Watch out
QX60 / JX35 CVT shudder and failure
The Jatco CVT judders and fails on these crossovers. Fluid changes help, but replacement is common — test drive for shudder at low speed.

Watch out
Direct Adaptive Steering (Q50)
The steer-by-wire system is complex and very costly if it faults. Any steering warning light on a test drive is a deal-breaker.
-
Watch out
Oil gallery gasket (VQ35HR, 2007–2008 G35)
A documented weak point: the oil gallery gasket blows out, dropping oil pressure. Listen for timing rattle and check for low-pressure warnings.

Common
InTouch infotainment lag
The dual-screen InTouch system is slow and can freeze. Test both screens thoroughly — replacement units are expensive.

Early QX60/JX35 CVTs are among the worst Jatco units. A shudder on light acceleration means budget for a transmission.
